New Form of Defense
World War 1 was a war of many firsts. It was also beginning of the United States becoming a world superpower where defense was invented, helped and had a major affect on the war. Weapons, warfare and communications were the key of fighting in the war of World War 1.
Weapons that were used in the war were Chlorine, U-Boats and Flamethrowers. Chlorine was used by the Germans and it is a smoke screen that enemies thought they smelled peppers and pineapples, but they died. Chlorine was important because it killed the enemies without the oppnet being there. U-Boats were created by the British and Germans, they blew up enemies ships. U-Boats are important because it was the first submarine that had abilities to be a threat to ships. Flamethrowers were used by the French and British, soldiers spread flames on their enemy with the flamethrower. Flamethrowers are simply important in the war because it killed your enemy.

Warfare that was used in the war were Zeppelins, Tanks and Planes. Zeppelins (blimp) were used by dropping bombs from out of the sky onto the enemy. Zeppelins today are not as much important because blimps are used for different things today like advertisements. Tanks were used by shooting bombs and machine guns out of an armoured car to be safer. Tanks are important today because it is still used and it keeps troops safer than fighting on feet. Planes were fighting aircrafts that was armed with machine guns, bombs and even cannons. Planes are still important today because it is used today in the army, but they are more advanced.
Communication that was used in the war was Mirrors. Contact Patrols and Dogs. Mirrors helped the war effort because it gives troops signals without the enemy being aware of it. Mirrors are important today because when people drive they use mirrors to communicate with the other driver. Contact patrols was important to the war effort because they carried messages between the headquaters . I don’t think the Contact patrols are important today because the army has better technology to send messages. The dogs are important to the war effort because it made the troops feel better from killing people and not being home. Dogs are used today for other things, but similar like helping handicapped people.
In conclusions. the new forms of defense during World War 1 played a major role in the war effort br protecting and helping the soldiers to their job, and protect you. Today, the use of weapons, warfare and communications are similar to the WW1, but they are more advanced.
